This was an interesting week. A few weeks ago I posted a short video on why brands are not people. The original post was an article I wrote towards the end of last year.
Now, I’m not discouraging people from learning how to market themselves because that is something everyone should do. Yet, if people continue to present themselves as experts they’re setting themselves up for failure during the next down business cycle. Why? This type of cost is a luxury item that sets itself up for being one of first expenses cut by people and companies.
