The Challenge | 3 Major Decisions | 30 Days

Three major decisions a day changed my life because three is a manageable minimum, not a limit.

It prevents you from doing too little because the day feels overwhelming. It also prevents you from trying to change your entire life before lunch. You can do more than three. You just cannot avoid the three.

Continue for 30 days and you will have taken 90 actions. Some will create immediate results. Others will begin something that takes longer. A few may prove that you chose the wrong direction, which is considerably more useful than spending another month thinking about choosing one.

You Decide What Counts

A major decision is anything you decide matters that day.

It could be starting a business, making an investment or changing jobs. It could also be getting out of bed, answering an email or dealing with something you have successfully avoided while pretending you were still considering it.

Nobody else decides whether something is important enough to count. Your circumstances do.

The decisions do not need to be related, impressive or visible to anyone else. One might involve your health. Another might move your business forward. The third might simply make tomorrow less difficult.

If it matters to you and you act on it, it counts.

There Is No Official System

Some days you may choose all three decisions in advance. Other days you may let them emerge as the day unfolds.

Write them down if that helps. Keep them in your head if it does not. Tell someone or tell nobody.

This is not another productivity system with twelve rules, a tracking dashboard and a weekly ceremony to discuss why the tracking dashboard has become the work. The structure is deliberately simple because each person needs the freedom to use it differently.

Make three decisions. Take three actions.

Why Three Works

One decision can become permission to do very little. Ten can make a perfectly useful day feel like failure.

Three gives the day a foundation.

On a strong day, the first three may lead to five more. On a difficult day, completing three may be everything you have available. Both days count.

The number is not meant to control how much you accomplish. It creates a baseline that keeps you moving without requiring every morning to begin with motivation, certainty or a heroic soundtrack.

What Happens After 30 Days

After 30 days, you will have taken 90 deliberate actions.

More importantly, you will have started building a habit of not avoiding the three. Doing more becomes easier, but doing nothing becomes harder to accept.

I have used this approach for years. It did not change my life through one enormous decision. It changed my life by making action normal.

You do not need to know all 90 decisions before you begin.

You only need today’s three.
